WESTRIDE 2016S/S COLLECTION "THE EAGLE SOARS ALONE"

by May club 09 Apr 2016 0 Comments

West Ride 2016 spring and summer theme "THE EAGLE SOARS ALONE" comes from Harley's very important slogan in its century-old history; we have previously mentioned in " CHOOKE - COIN FEATHER " that the United States attaches great importance to eagles, from Native Americans to today. . The same is true for Harley-Davidson, a corporate brand that is a classic representative of the United States.

Harley-Davidson was founded in 1903 and had a shield LOGO design in 1910. It was not until 1933 that the eagle totem was added. From that time on, Harley-Davidson has actively promoted Harley-Davidson = Eagle.

In 1969, Harley suffered a profit crisis due to the entry of Japanese motorcycles into the U.S. market. It was forced to abandon the family business and was acquired by the American Machine and Foundry Company (AMF). Although it was acquired by the American Machine and Foundry Company (AMF), it was acquired by AMF. Harley expanded vigorously, but the decline in quality control left Harley unable to recover. AMF, which had suffered losses for 11 consecutive years, decided to split its division and sell it.

In 1981, Vaughn Beals, then vice president of the motorcycle sales department, and a total of 13 senior executives used part of the funds to buy back Harley-Davidson motorcycles (Harley-Davidson) through bank financing. " The Eagle Soars Alone" ” became the slogan of the time.

Vaughn Beals brought major reforms to Harley. In addition to improving manufacturing quality and reducing costs, he established an official Harley Owners Group in 1983 to increase brand loyalty and lobbied Congress to pass tariff protection policies to import originally Japanese motorcycles. The tariff is only 4% and will be raised to 45% within five years. Various policies have allowed Harley to regain its position as the leader in heavy machinery.
